Technology. One term that spans a variety of areas. Hardware (computers, phones), software (programs, operating systems), social media platforms (Facebook, Reddit), connectivity (Wi-Fi, hot spots), communications (Zoom, emails), privacy (VPNs, data mining). Entire books are devoted to just a single of these areas – there is so much to write about. And technology advances at such a rapid pace in a relatively short period of time – how does one keep up? When the decision was made for me to write a technology blog, the question I kept coming back to – where do I start? The answer is simple. I start by keeping you, my audience, in mind. What information do you need? How may I help you reconnect with friends or family members who live in another part of the country? Perhaps you are learning to use your first smart phone (which is really a powerful computer that also functions as a phone!) Or, you are using a laptop and are wondering why you receive so much junk in your email – and you want to learn more about guarding your privacy online. Maybe you are wondering how safe it is to use the free Wi-Fi offered at a coffee shop. My intent is to address these and other issues over a series of articles posted here. I’m also working on outlines for workshops on a variety of technology-related topics. If you have a specific question, please tap or click the button below to send me an email -- your question may appear as a future blog post! Your privacy will be protected -- only your initials will be used.
